We are located on a small farmstead in the Southwest Corner of Northeast Nebraska. Our herd lives in the middle ofan 80 acre farm which gives them plenty of room to browse on Tall Timothy and Bermuda Grass most of the year.
Oh the milk.........the milk is sooo good it is hard to explain,it tastes a lot like whole milk, only a smidgen sweeter. These little goats can be bred year round, so the possibility to have fresh milk year round is absolutely fantastic. I have experimented with yogurt, mixed with wild berry jellies OH OH OH so good. Buttermilk was easy, and vinegar cheese, OH the ice cream blew me away!!. The milk doesn't last long enough to try too many of the other cheeses or soap. So I went out and bought some more.........
These little goats are amazing! I have enjoyed every minute that I have spent with them. The milk is so tasty that I hate to have them dry up. I did however, freeze some of the milk, and I'm glad that I did.
I have spent most of the winter reading and learning all that I can about these little goats..Staring at pictures of Champions, Grand Champions, Master Champions, and Permanent Grand Champions to get a good picture of what the judges are looking for. We have had 4 girls win Grands so far but only one official win, due to illegible tattoos, or some other miss haps. BUMMER. but we will keep trying. I am however very Greatful for this win as it is my first official win and not only the first official but the first PlayRite Doe to WIN..
The Lord has blessed me with some very nice animals!!! For which I am grateful!!!
